Steven Lee Duffey
Steven Lee Duffey, 67, Nevada, Mo., passed from this life on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at his home in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. Steve was born Aug. 5, 1947, in Nevada, Mo., to Boyd Calvert and Doris Jean (Cox) Duffey. He was united in marriage to Janie Lea Fritter on Oct. 15, 2010, in Hot Springs, Ark., and she survives of the home.
Steve was raised in Metz and attended school there graduating from Metz High School Class of 1965. Following high school he served in the United States Air Force for four years from 1965--69. Upon his return home he began working in the construction business. In the 1970s he started his own business "Duffey Concrete" which he has continued to operate until present day. Steve was a member of the BPO Elks in Nevada, and the Nevada Eagles. He enjoyed spending time drag racing, and black powder shoots, and working in the shop. He especially loved being around his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Janie, he is also survived by one daughter, Gina Foster and her husband, Jeff, Basehor, Kan.; one stepson, Kyle Fritter and his wife, Anna, Milo; one stepdaughter, Tricia Murphy, Basehor, Kan.; three grandchildren, Hunter, Dominic, and Colton; four stepgrandchildren, Pierse, Parker, Paden, and Brent; two stepgranddaughters, Piper and MacKenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, June 19, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Pastor Roger Beach officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
