Judith Arlene Hoover
Judith Arlene Hoover, 49, formerly of the Sheldon area, passed from this life on June 23, 2015, at Shawnee Gardens Healthcare, in Shawnee, Kan. She was born Sept. 22, 1965, in Johnson County, Kan., the daughter of William Robert and Harriet Bernice (Hardy) Pippin.
Judith attended school on both sides of the Missouri and Kansas borders, before moving back to Nevada in 1975 so the family could be closer to her grandmother. She finished her school years in the Nevada R-5 school district and for a time worked with her stepfather, Ken Hoover, locally in the disposal business. In the mid-1980s the family moved once again, this time making Branson their home. Judith lived in several areas in southwest Missouri and while working as a cook she met Jerry Mitchell whom she married in the mid-1980's. Together the couple became parents of one son. She did relocate to the Kansas City area for a time also. In her spare time, Judith enjoyed cooking and had a great love of writing. She also made an excellent salsa and loved international coffees. She was a longtime fan of No. 3 Dale Earnhardt Sr. and racing. She was baptized into the Baptist faith while living in Nevada.
Those left to mourn her passing include her beloved son, Kendall Wayne Mitchell of Nevada; siblings, Eugene Martin, Harold Martin, Bobbie Jo Hoover, and David Martin; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, cousins, aunt, uncles, and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Nancy Rose Owens.
A memorial service for Judith Arlene Hoover is scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, July 3, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with the Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating.
Contributions may be made in her memory to a fund for the family.
