The Supreme Court blew it -- The basis for marriage is to produce children
Dear Editor:
The recent Supreme Court decision that same gender marriages must be allowed in all states is wrong. Here is one man's view. All of God's creation has a God-given drive to reproduce the next generation: plants, animals, fish, birds, and insects have God-given ways within them to bring forth the next generation.
See Genesis 1:11, 12, 20, 21, 24-25. In verse 22 he said to this creation: "Be fruitful and multiply." They cannot stop nor pervert the reproduction process.
Man is not excluded from the reproduction drive, but he can make choices, unlike the rest of creation, to prevent children (the next generation), a key purpose for marriage.
For example, when God created the male and female of mankind, he told them the same thing as the rest of creation: "Be fruitful and multiply" (Genesis 1:28). This is why men and women were created, to bear children. Same gender unions cannot bear children.
The laws of nature and of nature's God is the foundation of both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution and the basis for what a marriage really is.
By this history, bearing children was to occur in the state of marriage, biblically and historically defined for 6,000 years, as between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:24).
The whole purpose of the sex drive is to produce children in a marriage state of one man and one woman. Two men in marriage and two women in marriage cannot produce children.
Here is where the Supreme Court blew it. They have artificially granted to two men or two women a status void of purpose for marriage that which only a man and woman can do, bear children.
