Perry W. Cox
Perry Cox, 82, of Sheldon, Mo., passed away at Community Springs Healthcare, of El Dorado Springs, Mo., Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, following a period of declining health.
Perry was born Nov. 4, 1932, in Johnson City, Tenn., the son of Perry W. Cox Sr. and Delores Elizabeth (Douglas) Cox. He attended school in Johnson City and later moved to the Chicago, Ill., area where he worked there and all over the United States as a heavy construction crane operator. He married Deon J. Jorgensen on May 18, 1985, in Las Vegas, Nev. Perry and Deon moved to Sheldon, Mo., after he retired in September of 1992.
He enjoyed trap-shooting, built the Sheldon Trap Club, which was enjoyed by many while it remained open, and was an instructor at the Vernon County Shooting Sports from 1997-2013. Perry was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Masonic Lodge in Elgin, Ill.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Kaye; two brothers and two sisters.
Perry is survived by his wife, Deon, of the home in Sheldon; six children, Charlotte Ann Cox, Kansas City, Kan., Dianna Lynn Mitchell, Bartlett, Ill., Lisa Kacena, Halls, Tenn., Peggy Sue Gaines, Ripley, Tenn., Perry Cox Jr., Halls, Tenn., and John Cox, Tuscaloosa, Miss.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Joan Cox; and a host of extended family, and friends.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 7, in the Ferry Funeral Home Chapel, with Jack Hayes officiating and Perry's daughter, Charlotte Cox, offering the eulogy.
