Sarah Belle Alexander

Sarah Belle Alexander, 81 of Nevada, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015 in Nevada following a period of declining health.

Sarah was born July 2, 1934 in Hiatteville, Kan., the daughter of Milo and Willa (Soward) Sutcliffe. She was raised in Bourbon County, Kan., and graduated from Ft. Scott High School. She was married to James English and later married Mervin Alexander on September 2, 1983.

Sarah lived and worked in Denver, Colo., most of her life. She worked as a proof reader for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver and later worked as a home health aide in the healthcare industry.

Upon retiring she moved to Nevada where she has continued to reside. Sarah enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Nevada.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Joella (Jody) Strecker, and brothers Ross and Milo Sutcliffe.

She is survived by her husband, Mervin Alexander of Nevada and Colorado; son, Neal English of Nevada; daughter Sherri English (Douglas Rangitsch) Maricopa, Ariz; daughter Anella "Nellie" (Steven) Stasica, Denver, Colo; step-daughter Lisa Anderson (Bruce), Elizabeth City, Colo; step-son Lance Alexander, Greeley, Colo; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren brothers, Robert Sutcliffe, Richland, Mo., and Donald Sutcliffe, Freeman, Mo; sisters, Dorothy Brown, Edna, Texas, Izetta Person, Nevada, Mo, and Margaret Anderson, Independence, Mo; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, August 24, 2015 in the Ferry Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jerry Pyle officiating.

Interment will follow in the Moore Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 6 to 7 p.m., Sunday evening.
