Gene Roscoe Snead

Gene Roscoe Snead, 48, of Nevada, passed from this life on Aug. 26, 2015, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center, in Nevada. He was born Oct. 11, 1966, in Nevada, the son of William Roscoe and Janet Ruth (Loveless) Snead. On Sept. 20, 1987, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Ann Preston in Radio Springs Park and she survives.

Gene lived all of his life in Nevada and was a graduate of the Nevada Class of 1985. In high school he was involved in the Future Farmers of America where he excelled. For many years he was employed by the Nevada R-5 school district in the maintenance/custodial department. When time allowed he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors. But his great love and time spent was that with his family and friends. Weekend gatherings and barbeques were always cherished times. His family was the great love of his life.

Survivors in addition to Trudy include three children, Bethany Snead of Springfield, Timmothy Snead also of Springfield, and Chelsea Snead of Nevada; grandchildren, Acelynn Fulks and Ayden Snead; his mother, Janet Snead of Nevada; siblings, Dale Snead and Gwen Snead both of Nevada; of special mention are three nieces, Jenna Cracraft, Jessi Snead, and Jayne Snead; along with other nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of friends. Gene was preceded in death by his father, and one sister, Gail Snead.

Funeral services for Gene Roscoe Snead are scheduled at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with the Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada. Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 31, also at the funeral home.
