Leland Everett Tracy
Leland Everett Tracy, 85, of Belton, Mo., passed away at Ashton Court in Liberty, Mo., Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015.
Leland was born Aug. 5, 1930, in McDonald, Kan., the son of Leland Springer and Dorothy Nadine (Peak) Tracy. In his youth, Leland loved working at White Grill in Nevada and in later years he made multiple trips back to Nevada so he could eat there. He served his country as a member of the Missouri National Guard and married Nova June Huffman June 23, 1953, in Nevada. He was the co-owner with his brother-in-law, Calvin Huffman, of Gambles Store, in Ava, Mo. He moved to Kansas City to pursue a career in printing and retired from Midland Lithographing Company. In his youth Leland enjoyed boating and camping at Stockton Lake and was an avid and accomplished bowler. In 1950, he won the Nevada Bowling singles tournament and was the overall point champion.
Leland was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 5, 2005; a brother, Lawrence; and sisters, Frances Ogle, Betty Mayes, and Barbara Nelson. He is survived by a son, Richard Alan Tracy (Sandy), Liberty, Mo.; daughter, Lisa Jo Priddy (Dave), Belton, Mo.; four grandchildren, Kim Staton, Jeff Priddy, Matt Priddy, and Bri Priddy; one great-grandson, Cole Staton; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at noon on Friday, Sept. 4, at Newton Burial Park with the Rev. Terry Mosher officiating. Visitation will precede the service 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., in the Ferry Funeral Chapel.
