Sheldon VB beat by Golden City in two sets

Unforced errors and miscommunication led the Sheldon Lady Panthers to their third volleyball loss of the season. The Golden City Eagles defeated Sheldon (1-3) in two sets: 25-7 and 25-10, respectively.
In the first set, the Lady Panthers earned the first point on a misplayed pass from the Eagles, then fell behind during an eight-point run, highlighted by two aces by Golden City's Cassie Tubaugh. Sheldon had five unforced-errors during that run and committed 17 unforced errors throughout the first set, but had several long rallies that showed reasons for positivity.
"They didn't have very good communication tonight," Sheldon coach Lisha Lamb said of her players. "Whenever they had good communication, they rallied pretty well and were competitive, but whenever they were lacking communication, they were confused on who was doing what and where to help support."
In the second set, the lady Panthers made some headway after A kill by Carly Claflin and two back-to-back service errors by the Eagles. Sheldon had just come out of a timeout after falling behind, 10-5. The momentum stopped there as miscommunication and errors led to a 6-1 run by the Eagles, forcing another Sheldon timeout. Lamb said she told her team "to play their hardest" during the three timeouts she called. Logan Lamb, the lone senior playing Tuesday evening, led the Lady Panthers with three kills. In the second set, Logan made several digs during a long rally. She ended the second rally pushing the ball between two defenders, causing the Eagles' players to stumble and knock the ball to the ground. "She's played for four years and the girls look up to her for advice and how to serve and hit harder and stronger," Lisha Lamb said.
With Labor Day Monday, Lamb said the Lady Panthers had not practiced since Friday, but she said the team would practice hard for leading up to its next opponent.
