Loretta Lea Roadcap
Loretta Lea Roadcap, 79, of Nevada, Mo., passed away Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, at the Barone Alzheimer's Care Center, in Nevada. She was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Bates County, Mo., the daughter of Thomas Lee and Myrtle Gertrude (Crist) White. Her husband, Donald Lee Roadcap, preceded her in death in 1990.
Loretta attended school at Pleasant Gap and then Appleton City before graduating from Adrian High School. After graduation and her marriage to Mr. Roadcap, the couple relocated to California due to Donald's military commitment with the United States Navy. When he was sent to Japan, she returned to Missouri to live near family until his discharge from the service. Shortly thereafter they became the proud parents of two sons. Most of their lives were spent in Missouri with the exception of a few years in Florida and Colorado. In 1984 they returned to Missouri and in the mid-1980s made Nevada their home to stay. Through the years, Loretta was employed at Country Kitchen, the Nevada State Hospital, Trail's Inn, and lastly at Christian Healthcare, retiring in 2002. When time allowed she enjoyed puzzles, reading, flower gardens, and walks. But her great love was to travel -- she was ready to go anywhere at any time. Whether it was traveling with her sister Joyce and best friend Kathy to Nashville, Tenn., or just some place local, she enjoyed it all. But of note was the trip that her brother Elroy took both she and Joyce on in 1998 -- a two-week trip to England that was enjoyed by all. She will be lovingly remembered by so many who knew her.
Survivors include her two sons, Dennis Roadcap, of Stockton, and Kevin Roadcap, of Nevada; brother, Elroy White, of Nevada; sister, Joyce Cooper, also of Nevada; grandchildren, Jason Roadcap and Chris Roadcap; great-grandchildren, Justin, Damien, Abel, Tinley, and Gage; and nieces, nephews, other extended family members and many friends. Aside from her husband, Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Coly Nachbar.
Funeral service for Loretta Lea Roadcap will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 11, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, in Nevada. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, also at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made in her memory to the Barone Activity Fund or Vernon County Cancer Relief in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
