Faye Gammon
Ima Faye Gammon, 82, of rural Walker, Mo., passed away surrounded by her loved ones at her home on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015. She was born Nov. 11, 1932, in Hartville, Mo., the daughter of James Troy and Venice Leola (Stigall) McCleary. She married Leo Gammon in Nevada, Mo., on Feb. 28, 1971.
Faye was raised in the Hartville, Mo., area and graduated from high school there. She accepted Jesus as her savior and was baptized as a young girl at the Coon Creek Baptist Church at Hartville. Most recently, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nevada, Mo.
After marrying and moving to Vernon County, Faye was employed as a secretary at Camp Clark and retired after many years of service there. She was active in the Nevada Business and Professional Women's organization and made many special friends through that association.
After retirement, Faye and Leo enjoyed traveling the world and shared many experiences, making new friends along the way.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bobbie Lee McCleary. She is survived by her husband of the home, Leo Gammon; her son, Charles Hubbard and wife, Norma, of Mauriceville, Texas; her daughter, Marilyn Wright, of Springfield, Mo.; three grandsons, Nathan Hubbard, Dunnegan, Mo., Troy Nichols and Brian Nichols, of Springfield, Mo.; and one granddaughter, Lena Wiseman, of Ashville, N.C. Also surviving are three stepsons, Doug Gammon (Judy), Danny Gammon, and Dennis Gammon (Patty); and two stepdaughters, Marsha Leonard (David) and Julie Reed; two sisters, Annabelle Cantrell (Don), of Niangua, Mo., and Mary Pedersen (Gerald), of Hartville, Mo.; one brother, Donnie McCleary (Sharon), of Hartville, Mo.; and her sisters-in-law, Betty Nolene Gammon, of Grain Valley, Mo., and Joyce McCleary, of Marshfield, Mo. Faye leaves nine stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 17 stepgreat-grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Ferry Funeral Home, with Pastor Russell McDarius officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Walker, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family will receive friends at 10 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
