Helen Jane Mangin
Helen Jane Mangin, 74, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Nevada, passed away Nov. 24, 2015. She was born March 22, 1941, in Montevallo, the daughter of John Melvin and Lola Fay (Malcom) Scholes. On May 12, 1958, she was united in marriage to Vincent Robert Mangin in Vinita, Okla., and together their union was blessed with seven children.
Helen attended school in Sheldon then moved for a time to work for her Aunt in Wichita where she met Vincent. After their marriage the couple continued to live for a time in Wichita, and then moved to Pennsylvania before returning to Jerico Springs. She was employed for several years at the State Hospital as a Med-Tech. Her greatest love was her family and when time allowed, Helen enjoyed crocheting for them. She was a longtime member of the Nevada Eagles Lodge.
Survivors include her children, Ramona Greenlee and husband, Bubba, of South Greenfield, James Mangin, of Lamar, Sandra Mangin also of Lamar, Karen Brandell of Stockton, Sharon Crutcher of Springfield, Lorie Foster of Stockton, and Penny Jackson of Springfield; one brother, Raymond Scholes of Jerico Springs; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as other extended family members. Of special mention is her beloved grand-pet, Romeo. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings, Lorne Richard Scholes, Melvin Lloyd Scholes, Herbert Gene Scholes, Almeta Elisabeth Eisenhour, and Pearleta Florence Larson.
Funeral services for Helen Jane Mangin are scheduled at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 28, at Ferry Funeral Home, with visitation to be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., just prior to the service. Interment will follow the services in Dunnegan Grove Cemetery near Sheldon.
