Adam Kirk Farley
Adam Kirk Farley, 56, passed away Oct. 18, 2015, in Springfield, Mo.
He was born Jan. 20, 1959, in Nevada, Mo., to Roy King and Kathleen Marie "Hess" Farley. He is survived by his mother, Kathleen Farley of Springfield; his brother, Stan Farley and his wife, Kathy Farley, of Valley Center, Kan.; his sister, Cynthia Farley and her husband, Mike Hinkle, of Springfield, and their children, Gerhardt Hinkle of Houston, Texas, and Annalise Hinkle of Rolla, Mo.
A graveside service was held on Oct. 22, 2015, at Newton Burial Park in Nevada, Mo.
Growing up in New Mexico at the foot of the Organ Mountains, Adam (Kirk, as his family knew him) grew to love and respect the outdoors. He worked tirelessly in his private pursuit of cleaning and maintaining Springfield's urban waterways and byways. He was passionate about recycling and minimizing society's impact on the planet. Land, water, and people were what held importance for him; material trappings did not. He often did things for others that they never knew. He did them because it was what he thought was right, not because he wanted thanks or recognition.
He greatly enjoyed orchestral music, regularly attending Springfield Symphony performances and could talk endlessly of classical composers and their work. Their music spoke to him and to his soul.
He will be greatly missed by his family and by those who knew him well.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, 411 N. Sherman Parkway, Springfield, MO 65802, springfieldmosymphony.org, or care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
