Dorothy Louise Christensen

Dorothy Louise Christensen, 89, Nevada, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at Joe Clark Residential Care Home, in Nevada. Dorothy was born on Oct. 10, 1926, in De Queen, Ark., to Herschel Van Buren and Ethel (Williamson) Hendrix. She was united in marriage to Donald Carl Christensen in Carter, Okla., in 1942, and he preceded her in death.

Dorothy was raised in Idabel, Okla., and attended school there. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell for more than 30 years in Dallas, Texas. She, along with her husband, came to Nevada in 1979. Dorothy worked as a manager of Spring Village Apartments from 1989-95 and volunteered at the Nevada Senior Center for a number of years. Dorothy attended Countryside Assembly of God Church, in Nevada.

Survivors include one daughter, Valo Jones and her husband, Dr. Ron Jones, Nevada; one son, Jack Christensen, The Colony, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Judi O'Connell, Katrina Jarrard, Don Christensen, Jr., David Christensen, Robert Christensen, Bryan Christensen, Sam Jones, Scott Jones, Libby Nuessen, Dan Jones; 26 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-granddaughter; one daughter-in-law, Frances Christensen, Rapid City, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Don, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Donald Christensen Sr.; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Christensen; one grandson, Jack Christensen Jr.; three sisters; and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Pastor Ted Furry officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home
