Inis Alice May

Inis Alice May, 96, of Nevada, Mo., passed away on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at the Barone Alzheimer's Care Center, in Nevada. Inis was born Nov. 24, 1919, on the family farm in rural Walker, Mo., to James and Myrta Rutledge. After graduating from Green Valley School she was united in marriage to Wayne May on Dec. 2, 1939, in Nevada, and to this union two children were born. Wayne preceded her in death on March 30, 1993.

Inis was an active member of the Horton Methodist Church. She led the singing, served as President of the ladies United Methodist Women, and was also treasurer for many years.

She and Wayne were members of the Bushwhacker Square Dance Club, Six Couple Card Club, and she bowled for many years. Inis loved her family and friends, and also loved to cook.

Survivors include her two daughters, Alice Woods and her husband, Dale, Independence, Mo., and Beverly Balk, Nevada, Mo.; two grandchildren, Alan Woods, Independence, Mo., and Kelly Curbow, Rich Hill, Mo.; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew Waltrip, Bradyn Woods, and Bradly Woods. In addition to her husband, Wayne, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Marshal, Russell Wayne, Jimmie, Cyril, Marvin, and Merle; and four sisters, Eloise, Maysel, Helen, and Marcena.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 4, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Lawrence Cripps officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
