Millie Lee Elsworth
Millie Lee Elsworth, 92, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016, at Joe Clark Residential Care Home, in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born on Dec. 27, 1923, in Parma, Mo., to Charles Austin and Lela Mae (Harris) Jackson. Millie was united in marriage to Benjamin Franklin Elsworth on March 18, 1944, in Pickett, Ark., and he preceded her in death in May of 1993.
Millie was raised in Bernie, Mo. In 1960, she came with her husband to Nevada from Holcomb, Mo. She was employed by the Nevada State Hospital for 25 years as a DA-III until her retirement. Millie was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, dominos, volunteering for church activities and was also very active in her community.
Survivors include two children, Janice Rye, Santa Rosa, N.M., and Garry Elsworth, Nevada; three grandchildren, Morgan Elsworth, Del Norte, Colo., Billy Rye, Texline, Texas, and Randy Thomas, Clayton, N.M.; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Benjamin, she was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; and three sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 19, at Newton Burial Park, in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada.
