McCaffree withdraws from Senate race

Nevada businessman Mike McCaffree announced Monday that he had decided not to run in the Aug. 2, Democratic primary for the Missouri 31st Senatorial district seat currently held by Ed Emery.

McCaffree, the only Democrat running against Emery, said that running for the state Senate and running his business would be too much on his plate.

Emery who was elected four years ago to represent the 31st Senate district, filed for the Republican primary on Feb. 23. Bill Yarberry, Milo, is also a candidate in the Republican Aug. 2 primary.

The 31st Missouri Senatorial district includes Barton, Vernon, Bates, Cass and Henry counties.
