The Nevada Tigers tennis team defeated Carthage 6-3 Thursday evening in Carthage.

The non-conference victory improves Nevada to 4-3 overall (1-1 West Central Conference).

Singles matches

* No. 1 singles: Nevada's Jordan Sheehy breezed past Austin Ward, 8-3.

* No. 2: Nevada's Nathan McCall dealt Thomas Neuenswander an 8-3 defeat.

* No. 3: Nevada's Matt Sommer cruised to an 8-2 victory over Damon Teel.

* No. 4: Jace Lanham was edged by Carthage's Royce Worley, 8-6.

* No. 5: Nevada's Sheel Patel outlasted Jose Castaneda, 9-7.

* No. 6: Vasantgiri Goswami was beat by Carthage's Christopher Roberts, 8-3.

Doubles matches

* Nevada's top team of Sommer and Sheehy, routed Ward and Neuenswander, 8-2.

* The Tigers No. 2 tandem, McCall and Lanham, triumphed over Teel and Worley 9-8 (7-5 tiebreaker).

Nevada's No. 3 team, Patel and Goswami, was defeated 8-6 by Castaneda and Roberts.

Up next

The Tigers host St. Pius X Tuesday, at 4:30 p.m., in a West Central Conference matchup.
