Tuesday, April 19, 2016
"This year's theme for National Crime Victims' Rights Week of 'Serving victims, Building trust and Restoring hope' only becomes reality when people get personally involved. Being a victim is personal and the caring, help and change they need is even more personal. Show you care, get involved, make it personal," said Danielle Conti, executive director of the Polk County House of Hope in Bolivar. Conti delivered the keynote address, Monday evening, at a courthouse rally organized by Vernon County Domestic Violence Task Force. Johannes Brann/Daily Mail

As music played and pictures scrolled, the names of 55 victims of crime in Vernon County were read as some 50 people held a candlelight vigil to honor their memories. Monday evening's rally at the county courthouse was organized by the Vernon County Domestic Violence Task Force and sponsored by area law enforcement, social service agencies, along with crime victims and their families.
