Lady Wildcats edged by Miami

The Bronaugh Lady Wildcats fell 8-7 to Miami Monday in Miami.

According to Broanugh softball coach Daryl Dodson, two errors in the bottom of the second inning led to four Miami runs. Trailing 7-4 in the top of the seventh inning, the Lady Wildcats rallied, plating three runs to tie the game at seven-apiece. Miami however, was able to bring home the winning run in the bottom half of the frame.

Lady Wildcats pitcher Abby Robertson struck out five Miami batters. For Bronaugh at the plate, Paige Wait was 3-for-4 with a double, while freshman Mattie Earnest also went 3-for-4.

Bronaugh boys

The Bronaugh boys fell Monday to Miami 11-1. According to the Missouri State High School Activities Association, Bronaugh is 3-3 overall.

District tourney seeding

The bracket for the Class 1 District 6 baseball tournament (scheduled for May 13-21 in Lockwood) has been released, and is as follows: No. 1 seed, Lockwood (9-4); No. 2, Greenfield (11-6); No. 3, Bronaugh (3-3); No. 4, Sheldon (2-8), and No. 5, Everton (1-9). Sheldon matches up with Everton in the opening-round, while Bronaugh earned a bye into the semifinals and faces Greenfield, May 16 at 6:30 p.m.

The Lady Wildcats are slated to play in the Class 1 District 12 softball tournament, Monday at 4 p.m. in Stockton against Lakeland.
