Francine Scholes
Francine Scholes, 88, formerly of Nevada, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at her home, in Duenweg, Mo. She was born on Jan. 7, 1928, in Southwest City, Mo., to Everett Golden Spence and Adelia Anne (Holiday) Spence.
Francine grew up in Carthage and later resided in Nevada. She was baptized at the First Christian Church in Nevada. Francine became an LPN at the age of 56 after raising her children and she worked at Spring River Christian Village, in Joplin, for a number of years before retiring in 2004. Francine has lived in Joplin since 1976.
Survivors include her 10 children, Clayton Hayes and his wife, Linda, Elmer Lee Barker and his wife, Ellie, Kendall Gire and his wife, Brenda, Leon Gire and his wife, Monty, Denise Gregory and her husband, Wendall, Ernest Gire, Rachelle Banes and her husband, Larry, Lenora Elliott, Rebecca Scholes and Bobby Scholes; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Spence; several nieces and nephews; close family friend, Regina Watkins; and her many extended family members. She was preceded in death by one son, Everett Gire; and her sister, Betty Hayes.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 16,bat Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, Mo., with Pastor Josh Pennington officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, May 15, at the funeral home.
