After having Wednesday's game with the Chillicothe Mudcats wiped out by rain, the Nevada Griffons returned to the diamond Thursday, as they were defeated 6-0 by the Mudcats in Trenton, Mo.

The loss allowed the Joplin Outlaws and Ozark Generals to gain ground on the first place Griffons (17-12 MINK League). The Outlaws crept to within a game in the MINK League South Division, as its game with Clarinda was rained out.

Joplin (17-14) is currently a game back. Ozark (17-14), also sit a game out of first place. Meanwhile, first place Chillicothe improves to 20-11, and currently holds a one game lead over St. Joseph in the North Division.

The Mudcats jumped out to the quick lead, as a Ryan Kayhill RBI single in the bottom of the first off Griffons starting pitcher Clayton Luley, handed Chillicothe a 1-0 advantage. Later in the inning a two-out single off the bat of John Remick, plated Kayhill to give the Mudcats a 2-0 lead.

Chillicothe tacked on a pair of runs in the fourth courtesy of a Ryan McPhail RBI single, followed later in the inning by a Kayhill fielder's choice groundout that scored McPhail, as the Mudcats went in front 4-0.

Chillicothe padded its lead in the seventh, when a Remick single plated Dalton Schumer. A Cole Butler balk scored Nick Banman, accounting for the final run of the contest.

Chillicothe starting pitcher Caleb Bounds dominated, striking out 11 over seven scoreless frames. The victory improved Bounds to a MINK League leading 6-0, while lowering his earned run average to 2.70. For the Griffons, Luley (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season, tossing six innings while allowing three earned runs to go along with five strikeouts.
