Winnie Marie Jones
Winnie Marie Jones, 98, of O'Fallon, Mo., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at her residence at Park Place at Wing Haven Assisted Living. She was born on July 27, 1918, to Claude and Naomi (Hunt) Banks, in Joplin, Mo. She married C.H. Jones Jr. on May 7, 1939.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Naomi (Hunt) Banks; her beloved husband, C.H. Jones Jr.; her daughter, Laree (Jones) Fine; and a great-grandson, Austin Rhine.
She is survived by two sons, Howard Jones and his wife, Dona, of Columbia, Mo., and Stan Jones and his wife, Barb, of Ballwin, Mo.; six grandchildren, Sam Fine, Deb Fine-McNanna, Stacy Chrisman, Chris Jones, Jonathan Jones, and Todd Jones; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Jones served as coordinator of volunteer services for State Hospital No. 3, in Nevada, Mo., where she was affectionately known as "mom" by all patients. After moving to Wentzville, Winnie opened and managed the Happy Shop, a Hallmark Card and gift store, for many years. She was active in the Wentzville Methodist Church, Business and Professional Women, the Noonday Club, and the Athena Club in Wentzville.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a celebration of her life at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Pitman Funeral Home, 1545 Wentzville Parkway, Wentzville, Mo., with interment at Eternal Peace Cemetery in Wentzville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
