Tigers, Lady Tigers run at Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival
Facing its toughest competition of the season, the Nevada Tiger and Lady Tiger cross country teams traveled to Arkansas to participate in Saturday's Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayettville, Ark., at Agril Park on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
The event was comprised of more than 6,000 runners from across the America.
"This was the fiercest competition you can find," Nevada High School cross country coach Ryan Watts said. "It's more difficult than the state championship, as it was more like a combination of state championships."
Nevada's top finish was freshman Calli Beshore's 45th-place finish in the varsity girls El Caliente Race.
"We ran very well," Watts said, "continuing the trend of late, to run at or better than our best time all season. It was a great experience for our runners to go to a meet of that size and be racing from start to finish.
"There was really no time where you were running by yourself, so it made the race that much more competitive."
