Tiger swim team finishes runner-up at Joplin High School Invitational
The Nevada Tiger boys swimming team finished runner at Thursday's Joplin Invitational, defeating Lebanon, Lamar, and Camdenton. Host-school Joplin won the event, besting Nevada by 18 points.
Note: All events were measured in meters
For Nevada High School, the 200 Medley Relay team of Thomas Prewitt, Jake Asberry, Grant Miller, and Cody Hansen placed first with a setting time of 2:07.63.
In the 200 Free, Tyler Armstrong placed third, clocking a time of 2:30.35, Michael Henderson placed ninth with a time of 3:06.19, while Jack Niestrath placed 10th at 3:20.26.
In the 200 IM, Miller placed second, finishing with a time of 2:48.65 .In the 50 Free, Asberry time of 25.31 was good for a gold medal, Prewitt's of 27.03 was good for third-place, while Hansen placed 35th with a time of 28.41.
Tyler Armstrong placed fourth in the 100 Butterfly, at 1:26.56. In the 100 Free, Asberry placed time of 56.11 netted him first place. Prewitt placed fourth with a time of 1:01.10, while Hansen placed sixth with a time of 1:07.42.
In the 400 Free, Braden Russell placed second with a time of 6:05.46. In the 200 Free Relay, the team of Asberry, Prewitt, Cody Hansen, and Miller netted a second--place finish, clocking a 1:48.46.
In the 100 Backstroke, Russell placed third with a time of 1:20.78; Kalen Morris fourth at 1:24.53; and Niestrath 10th with a time of 1:43.10.
In the 100 Breaststroke, Miller placed second, swimming to a time of 1:29.76. In the 400 Free Relay, the team of Henderson, Russell, Armstrong, and Morris placed second after clocking a 5:11.63.
