NHS, NMS girls cross country teams sweep El Do Invitational
The Nevada Lady Tigers high school and middle school cross country squads collected first-place finishes at Thursday's El Dorado Springs Cross Country Invitational. Adding to the achievement, each of Nevada's seven high school girls varsity runners medaled.
Nevada High School's varsity boys team earned a fourth-place finish
"We were only six points from the runner-up plaque, as it was a very close meet," NHS coach Ryan Watts said.
Watts said the course was no walk in the park.
"This was a very tough course, with hills throughout the entire route, as nearly every one of our runners ran their personal bests of the season," an elated Watts said. "We had a great showing."
Watts spoke glowingly of his middle school teams, comprised entirely of seventh-graders.
"Us competing against combined seventh and eighth-grade teams was very impressive," he said. Watts added that this was the final middle school event of the season.
"With the end of the season approaching it's very reassuring to be running as strong as we are," the first-year coach said. "It helps keep us confident going into conference and districts."
