O’Connor blanks Bronaugh

Sheldon Panthers’ sophomore Brett O’ Connor dazzled on the mound Friday evening, shutting down the Bronaugh Wildcats en route to a 12-0 conference road victory.

The victory improves Sheldon to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the Golden Valley Vernon County Conference, while Bronaugh falls to 0-5 overall (0-2 GVVC).

The contest was scoreless though three innings, until Sheldon’s bats broke out, plating five runs in the fourth, three in the fifth, and four in the sixth

For Bronaugh at the dish, Japanese foreign-exchange student Koichi Tamaki was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, while Evan Brock finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

“It took us awhile to get started,” Panthers’ head coach Matt Beatty said. “But we were able to get the bats going in the fourth inning.”

O’Connor improves to 2-0 on the season, striking out six over four innings of work.
