Danny Thomas Sewell
Danny Thomas Sewell, 69, passed away on Saturday, April 15, at his home in Roscoe, Mo., following a battle with pancreatic cancer since December 2016. He was born on June 17, 1947, in Nevada, to Arthur Lee and Ethel Pauline (Flagor) Sewell. He married Regina Mae McDermott on Sept. 5, 1969, in Nevada and she survives of the home.
Danny was raised in Nevada. He was drafted into the United States Army on June 15, 1967, where he became an armored calvary operator and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, during the Vietnam era until his discharge on May 28, 1969. Danny received a good conduct medal, sharp shooter M-14 and National Defense Service medal. Following the service he worked at Fram in Nevada until it closed in 2002 then the family moved to Troy, Mo., and he worked for First Financial Federal Credit Union in St. Charles, Mo., until his retirement in March 2010. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with several close friends and family.
Survivors in addition to his wife Regina, include one daughter, Tracy LeAnn Sewell, Nevada; three brothers, Arthur (Sonny) Sewell, Jr. and his wife, Linda K., Kenny Sewell and his wife, Debbie, Rob Sewell and his wife, Twila, all of Nevada; two sisters, Carol Strickland and her husband, John, Lowry City, Mo., and Linda Chesnut and her husband, Leon, Nevada; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Willson and her husband, Gilbert, Nevada, Betsey Medearis and her husband, Lloyd, Green Valley, Ariz., and Patricia Olson and her husband, Bill, Plymouth, Wisc. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Travis Lee Sewell, from cancer in November 2009; brother-in-law, William McDermott; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and grandparents.
Committal services with Military Honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, at Newton Burial Park in Nevada with the Rev. Bill Smith and the Rev. Rex Scholes officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
