Betty Lee Spratt
Betty Lee Spratt, age 94, of Nevada, died Friday, June 2, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada. She was born April 22, 1923, to Ray Edwin and Laura Jane Hamilton Bainter in Liberal, Mo.
Betty, one of six children, grew up in Liberal where she graduated from high school. She received her postsecondary education at Southwest Missouri University in Springfield, Mo., earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education. She taught at Butler, Pittsburg, Kan., Bronaugh and Hume. She worked as a secretary at Richards Gebaur Air Base followed by many years at H&R Block in Belton, Mo., and finally an income tax service in Nevada. Betty married Richard “Dick” Spratt and to this union two children were born. He preceded her in death in 1957.
Betty was very quiet, independent, reserved and private. She didn’t want to be a bother to anyone and always wanted to pay for everything. She loved cats and flowers and found pleasure in playing cards, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by a son, Cris Spratt and wife, Joyce, of Milo; a daughter, Renee Spratt, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandsons, Ricky Chad Spratt and wife, Kristy, David Lee Spratt and wife, Jacquelin, and Matthew Dean Spratt and wife, Melissa; four great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services are 11 a.m., Saturday, June 10, at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler, with Ricky Chad Spratt officiating. Visitation is prior to services from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. Contributions to charity of choice.
