Beachler takes away positives from jamboree
The Nevada Tiger football team was given its first test of the season, competing in the four-team Stockton Jamboree.
At Friday evening’s jamboree, the Tigers scrimmaged against Stockton, Lamar and Pierce City — going 12 offensive and 12 defensive snaps against each team.
“I thought we had some good looks from some of the young men we will be counting on to perform at a high level,” Beachler told the Daily Mail. “However, we still have a lot to work on. Discipline, on each and every down will be critical. We have to be able to do that.”
Beachler said he would like to see improvement out of the offensive and defensive lines prior to (this) Friday’s season-opener at Seneca.
“They have to be able to perform at a higher level than they did on Friday night,” said Beachler of the offensive line. “I also believe that our defensive line has to do a better job with their pad-level and reading, defeating blocks.”
Beachler said the jamboree is used exclusively for player evaluation, as scoring plays/info were not made available to the Daily Mail.
“That is all we use the Jamboree for,” noted Beachler. “I could care less about the score or any of that other fluff. I want to see who can step up and perform and who needs to be coached to do a better job of that.”
Added Beachler: “Yes, some of those questions were answered.”
