NHS C-team steamrolls Springfield Central, 48-6
The Nevada Tigers C-football team (1-4) picked up its first victory of the season, throttling Springfield Central 48-6 Monday night at Logan Field.
The Tigers struck early, as tailback Justin Guy scampered in from 24-yards out, with kicker Wes Balk’s extra point handing Nevada a 7-0 advantag. Late in the first quarter, freshman Kaden Denney tacked on another touchdown, on a 42-yard run. With Balk’s extra point, the Tigers led 14-0.
In the second quarter, Colin Witte took a punt return 48-yards to the house, with Balk’s extra point increasing Nevada’s lead to 21-0.
After a Central touchdown, the Tigers quickly responded via quarterback Matt Thorp’s six-yard touchdown run. With the extra point, Nevada’s lead swelled to 28-6.
Shortly before halftime, Trey Moore chipped in a five-year touchdown run, as Nevada went up 35-6 at the half. The Tigers final two scores came in the fourth, via Denney’s 47-yard touchdown romp, and Sylvan Rinker’s pick six (interception return for a touchdown), as the Tigers led by 42 points.
