NHS celebrates students
Students from Nevada High School gathered in the Ella Maxwell Center for the Performing Arts on Friday morning to celebrate student accomplishments during the first quarter of the 2017-18 school year.
“It was a fabulous day celebrating the awesome achievements of NHS students,” Casey Campbell said.
Campbell co-sponsors NHS Renaissance with Heather Wright.
“We also had over 150 students participate in the gold lunch out — pizza, inflatables, and ice cream,” Campbell said. “We had an additional 150 students join us for the silver ice cream social.”

Girls Tennis
Emma Cheaney and Erika Watanabe won both individual districts and team districts. Katherine Pruitt, Mikena Padgett, Kaitlyn Hogan, and Hallie Short won team districts.
Softball
Cameron Holcomb received First Team All-District and All-Conference, Maggie Leisure was granted Second Team All-District and All-Conference, Hailee Lundine was awarded Second Team All-District and All-Conference, Anna Fulton received Second Team All-District and All-Conference, Tylin Heathman was awarded Second Team All-District and All-Conference, and Emily Johnson was granted All-Conference Honorable Mention.
Girls Golf
Grace Palmer and Miranda Crews received All-Conference and All-District honors.
Girls Cross Country
Amara Pippin received second team All-Conference honors. Patience Lockhart received first team All-Conference honors, district honorable mention and left Friday to compete at the state competition. Finally, Calli Beshore was the conference champ, received first team All-Conference honors and was awarded first team All-District.
Future Farmers of America
FFA students Braden Ast, Konnor Ast, Joe Hendrix, Alex Gast, Charlene Pettibon, Kaitlin Jenkins, Landon Netherton, and Kaeth Zachary traveled to Washington D.C. last summer to attend the Washington Leadership Conference.
FFA delegation to the Missouri State Fair: Paxton Dahmer received first high individual swine judging contest; Alexandra Gast received Best in Show Breeding Rabbit as well as second High Individual swine judging contest; Cayden Sanderson received Reserve Grand Champion Alpine Doe; and Lauren Dilly received Reserve Grand Champion 4-H Market Steer.

Emma Cheaney was October’s athlete of the month.
Chasity Edwards was October’s artist of the month.
October students of the month are freshman Maleigha Hinton, sophomore Kaylin Evans, junior Devin Johnson and senior Karishma Goswami.
DECA
“Junior Sami Fine was elected to the 2017-2018 DECA Executive State Officer team,” DECA co-sponsor Amber Jenkins said. “Sami Fine was voted District 10 vice president. Her new office was determined through a written test, screening and nominating committee interview, and voting delegates within District 10. Serving as a state officer provides DECA members the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and professionalism that is essential for a successful career. NRTC DECA could not be more proud of Sami.”
