Nine Nevada Tiger football players were recently tabbed as All-West Central Conference selections.
A pair of Nevada seniors, Hunter Mason and Braxton Shadden garnered recognition on both sides of the ball. Mason, who has verbally committed to play football for NCAA Division I Western Illinois University, earned all-conference accolades as a wide receiver and linebacker. Meanwhile, Shadden, who rushed for 1,093 yards and 13 touchdowns, was selected as a running back and strong safety.
Also making the All-West Conference team, were Nevada Tiger standouts Trevor Olson (linebacker), Alec Baker (defensive end); Tanner Gotschall (free safety); Peyton Denney (guard); and Treyton Fleeman (offensive tackle). In addition, Zach Gardner (linebacker) and Shelby Trotter (running back) picked up honorable mention accolades.
Under first-year NHS head coach, Wes Beachler, now in his second stint with Nevada, the Tigers finished 5-6 overall. Nevada showed marked improvement from a season ago, stunning powerhouse Kansas City Center High School, 36-28 in week two of the season. Center was edged by Maryville 19-13 in last week’s Missouri Class 3 quarterfinals.
“This is a group of deserving young men,” Beachler told the Daily Mail. “They played the game the right way — with toughness, playing hard from snap-to-whistle, and with class and character. They represented Nevada football well the entire year, and they were recognized for it.”
