Lady Tiger swim team debuts with third-place finish at Valkyrie Invitational

Nevada High’s Lady Tiger swim team dazzled at the season-opening Valkyrie Invitational, placing third out of 13 teams. Springfield Central High School won the event, held at Foster Natatorium in Springfield, followed by Logan-Rogersville in the runner-up spot.

• 100-yard backstroke: Makayla Haner, second-place, 1:09.81; Amara Pippin, seventh-place, 1:19.86; Emily Johnson, 13th-place, 1:28.27.

• 50 freestyle: Carlie McCaffree, fifth-place, 58.08; Peyton Claypool, sixth-place, 29.08,

• 200 individual medley: Makayla Haner, fifth-place, 2:37.06; Janna Scotten, ninth-place, 2:46.69.

• 100 breaststroke: Peyton Claypool, fifth-place, 1:21.38; Hallie Short, 10th, 1:31.00; Noelle Lunkenheimer, 14th, 1:35.62.

• 100 freestyle: Carlie McCaffree, seventh-place, 1:04.18;

• 500 freestyle: Alyssa Wilson, seventh-place, 7:01.75; Noelle Lunkenheimer, 10th, 7:42. 43.

• 200 freestyle: Alyssa Wilson, ninth-place, 2:33.91; Hallie Short, 12th, 2:38.48; Emily Johnson, 19th, 2:52.90.

NHS relay events

• 200-yard freestyle relay (second-place, 1:55.42): Maddie McCaffree, Peyton Claypool, Anna Fulton, Carlie McCaffree.

Emily Johnson, Emily Simrell, Makana Wilde, Alyssa Wilson (13th-place, 2:15.63).

• 200-medley relay (third-place, 2:03.45): Makayla Haner, Peyton Claypool, Carlie McCaffree, and Maddie McCaffree;

• 400 freestyle relay (second-place, 4:33.00): Janna Scotten, Amara Pippin, Hallie Short, and Makayla Haner;
