Nevada High and middle school student-athletes recognized at postseason awards banquet

The Nevada High School and middle school cross country teams were honored at their postseason awards banquet, held Nov. 29 at the school. Nevada Lady Tiger sophomore Calli Beshore collected first-team All-West Central Conference accolades, first-team All-Area Southwest Coaches Association; while being selected to the Class 3 District 7 All-District team. Fellow Lady Tiger junior Patience Lockhart, garnered second-team All-West Central Conference accolades, All-Area Southwest Coaches Association honorable mention; while also making the Class 3 District 7 All-District team. In addition, both Beshore and Lockhart qualified for the Missouri Class 3 State Cross Country championship meet.

Team awards went to: Beshore and juniors Will Johnson and Devin McHugh (tie) for Most Valuable Runners; Johnson and Lockhart (Guts Award); Johnson (Top Newcomer); and Luke Sudkamp and Trent Ellis (Dedication Award). The Dedication Award is new, as it honors individuals have stuck with the NHS cross country program every year from seventh-grade through 12th. Awards were presented by second-year Nevada XC head coach, Ryan Watts.
