The Nevada Tiger wrestling team was in action this weekend, competing at the 46th annual Monett Invitational. Among varsity teams competing at the event, Nevada finished 13 out of 13. Nixa H.S. won the event, with, Oak Grove placing runner-up.

Highlights for the Tigers included junior Peyton Denny’s second-place finish in the 285-pound weight class, and fifth-place finishes from Trevor Olson (195) and Adam Guenther (182).

“Our kids competed well with some bigger schools and a couple out of state schools,” said Nevada head coach, David Hawks. “Overall, I think it was a learning experience for the team. We faced a lot of adversity throughout the day, and had to continue to push through during our matches and compete.”
