Lady Tigers drop heartbreaker to Clinton, fall 50-46 in overtime
In a Tuesday night West Central Conference road showdown, the Nevada Lady Tiger basketball team was defeated by the Clinton Lady Cardinals, 50-46 in overtime.
The West Central Conference foes have engaged in several tight battles of late, with Clinton coming out on top, 39-36, Dec. 5 in Nevada. Prior to the December meeting, the squads met in the semifinals of the Class 4 District 12 Tournament last season, with Clinton prevailing, 38-36. And in the 40th annual Clinton Tournament, Jan. 24, Clinton again prevailed, 39-38.
Nevada (11-8) was hurt by Clinton star, Mia Mills, as the sophomore center poured in a game-high 31 points. Nevada led 36-31 entering the fourth, but was outscored 13-8, sending the contest to overtime, knotted 44-44. The Lady Cardinals then outscored Nevada 6-2 in the extra session to seal the victory.
