Comets drop fifth straight, fall to Little Priest Tribal, 82-66

The Cottey Comets losing skid extended to five games with an 82-66 loss to Little Priest Tribal College, Thursday evening in Winnebago, Nebraska.

Cottey (5-11) trailed 21-16 through one quarter, before trimming the deficit to 36-35 at the break.

Cottey then endured a rough third quarter, as Little Priest Tribal outscored the Comets 26-14, opening a 13-point lead at 62-49, entering the fourth. Cottey was unable to climb any closer in the final stanza, after being outscored 20-17.

Paced by Jazlynn Muniz’ 23-point effort, Little Priest Tribal connected on 27-of-73 from the field (37 percent). In addition, Little Priest Tribal drilled 15 3-pointers, on a whopping 47 attempts, while knocking down 13-of-16 from the charity stripe (81 percent). Little Priest Tribal was also strong on the glass, corralling 42 rebounds.

In addition to Muniz’ game-high point total, teammate Kayla Albo concluded with 22 points, on 8-of-16 shooting from the field, and 5-of-10 from beyond the arc — to go along with five rebounds, four assists, and a steal.
