Jens Duwain Barclay
Jens Duwain Barclay, 61, Nevada, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 10, at his home in Nevada. Jens was born March 13, 1956, in Nevada to Herbert Duwain and Helen Marie (Ridgway) Barclay. On March 18, 1983, he was united in marriage to Sheila Mae Burger in Miami, Okla., and she survives of the home.
Jens grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1974. He served in the United States Army. For 10 years Jens was with the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department obtaining the rank of chief deputy. He then worked at 3M Nevada for 23 years and also worked for an additional 16 years at the Nevada Police Department where he retired as detective on Sept. 29, 2017. Jens was a lifetime member of the National Rifleman’s Association, a Charter Member of Missouri Deputies Association and a member of the Patriot Guard.
In addition to his wife Sheila, he is survived by two daughters, Nichole Barclay, Nevada, and Melissa Watson, Nevada; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Karen Reits and her husband Terry, Round Rock, Texas, Janet Campbell and her husband Wes, Springfield, Mo., and Linda Fifer and her husband Tom, Ft. Wayne, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Beth Watson and Shelly Watkins; and an infant sister, Jennifer.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested in his memory to the American Cancer Society in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
