Judge Neal Quitno was presented the Nevada Rotary Club’s Citizen of the Year Award on Sept. 20. “I am very honored,” he said.

“Individuals are honored for their creativity, vision, leadership and citizenship by providing service to programs and activities that positively impact the community.  Today we are honoring someone that has impacted many lives locally and regionally,” Rotarian Carol Branham said.  “The impact made continues daily.  In a world today where civility seems to be lacking, the recipient stands strong with respecting others and by example is a model of civility and expects no less than that from individuals encountered in all walks of life.”

“When you present such an award as COY to an individual, it is always challenging for the time allotted to be able to bring to the podium all that could speak on behalf of the recipient,” said Rotarian Carol Branham.  “This year was no exception but I believe we have a good representation to honor Judge Quitno.”

Speakers at the event were Representative Patricia Pike, Mayor Brian Leonard,  David Heumader, Father Pete Savidge and Kaylee Myers. Myers nominated Quitno for the award because he continued to encourage and support her as she worked to turn her life around.
