Lady Tigers derailed on diamond by Carthage, 13-0

Tuesday, September 25, 2018

A 13-0 non-conference loss to visiting Carthage High School on Monday extended the Nevada Lady Tiger softball team’s losing skid to four games.

After opening the season 4-3, the Lady Tigers have now dropped six of their past eight contests.

At Bushwhacker Field Monday evening, Carthage came out red-hot, plating a trio of runs in the first. Carthage then tacked on a run in the second, before pushing across three more in third to go in front 7-0.

Carthage’s offensive onslaught continued, with the visitors scoring two in the fourth, and four in the fifth, as the lead swelled to 13-0.

The contest came to a close in the home-half of the fifth, as the Lady Tigers were unable to score, resulting in the five-inning run-rule.

After being held to just two hits Monday, the Lady Tigers will look to bounce back today, as they welcome in Big 8 West division foe East Newton High School.

First pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m. from Bushwhacker Field.
