Mable Irene Flewelling

Mable Irene Flewelling, 97, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at Moore-Few Care center in Nevada. Mable was born Nov. 7, 1921, to Charles and Melissa (Thompson) Sallee. She married George E. Flewelling in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1969.

Mable was born and raised in Vernon County. She worked for Scotts and TG & Y Stores in Nevada and for a time in Parsons, Kan., for 32 years. Mable also did alterations, hand sewing, and crocheting out of her home for nearly 30 years which she continued up to age 93. Mable was also caretaker for her sister in her own home for over ten years. She was a member of Community Christian Church and a past member of the Rebecca Lodge.

Survivors include three nieces, Carol Reedy of Winamack, Ind., Mary Jones Richards, Mo., Dorothy Manes, Clinton, Mo.; numerous great nieces and nephews, including Larry Hillier, Kansas City, Mo. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mildred Bobbett, and Helen Fern Hobbs; and one niece, Helen Hillier.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Mark Mitchell officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada.

Memorials are suggested to Vernon County Cancer Relief or Community Christian Church in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
