WALKER — The Hume Lady Hornet softball team steamrolled the Northeast Vernon County Lady Knights, 22-0, in a three inning run-ruled contest Thursday evening.

The Golden Valley Vernon County conference road victory ups Hume’s record to a 2-0 on the young season, while NEVC drops to 1-1.

The Lady Hornets inflicted a lethal first inning sting, plating 17 runs on the beleaguered Lady Knights, punctuated by Makinzi Harris’ three-run blast.

Hume tacked on three more in the second, and a pair in the third, for the decisive 22-run margin.

Harris’ twin sister Kennidi was in the circle and dealing, striking out four over three scoreless innings of work.

Hume was sharp defensively, as infielder Braelynn Morrison turned an unassisted double-play. Additionally, the contest came to a close on shortstop Lakynn Moore’s (6-3) twin-killing.

At the dish Hume racked up 21 hits. Makinzi Harris concluded 3-for-4 with a homerun and four RBI. Also collecting three-hit performances for Hume, were Katlyn Brooks, Kennidi Harris, Morrison, and Sidnee Moore. Moore also drove in four runs, while Dalton Hess added three RBI, and Gorda two.
