Tigers repeat as Frontenac tourney champs

For a second consecutive season the Nevada Tiger boys' varsity basketball team (pictured) is champions of the Kansas Army National Guard Invitational.

Held in Frontenac (Kan.) Nevada dispatched Webb City in Saturday's championship game, 64-52. Ranked No. 10 in Class 4 basketball, the title game victory moves the Tigers to a sparkling 14-2 overall.

Nevada forward Dalton Gayman paced Nevada with a game-high 29 points, en route to tournament MVP accolades. Joining Gayman on the all-tourney team, were teammates Logan Applegate and Logan McNeley.

Competing in the girls' bracket, Nevada's Lady Tigers placed fourth, falling to host Frontenac in the third-place game on Saturday, 63-53. Back-to-back tournament losses move the Lady Tigers to 12-3 overall.
