Arrest made after weekend shooting in Vernon County
A Nevada man is in custody after a shooting incident that took place Friday night. According to officials with the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a report of a possible shooting that took place at East Stockade Road.
Sheriff Jason Mosher said one person was transported to the Nevada City Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg and then transported to Joplin later that night for further treatment. The suspect was apprehended a short time later and the suspected weapon was recovered.
“Detectives found the suspect in a vehicle at Cash N’ Dash in Nevada and took him into custody without incident.” Sgt. Detective Nick Norval said the victim and the suspect were believed to be in a disagreement over property the suspect purchased from the victim.
The suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Lonnie L. Nall Jr. Nall has been charged with Assault First Degree or Attempt, Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Controlled Substance Except 35 grams or less of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid, Endangering the Welfare of a Child involving Drugs First Degree first Offense, and Unlawful Use of Weapon. Nall is being held in the Vernon County Jail on a $200,000 cash only bond.
