Lady Panthers knock off archrival Bronaugh in district tournament

It was a good night for the Sheldon Lady Panthers, as they dispatched their number one nemesis — Bronaugh, in the Class 1 District 5 hoops tournament on Monday.

Squaring off in Liberal, a strong second half performance propelled the fifth-seeded Lady Panthers over fourth-seeded Bronaugh, 49-38.

Sheldon was paced by a trio of double-figure scorers — Meckinize McCartney (13), Madison Garren (12), and Mahalia Swink (10).

The victory advances Sheldon (11-15) to Wednesday's semifinal clash with top-seeded McAuley Catholic. Tip off is slated for 6 p.m. from Liberal H.S.

Bronaugh, meanwhile, concludes their campaign at 10-15 overall.
