Daniel Jay Cooper
Daniel Jay Cooper, 66, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020, at his home, in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. Daniel was born Oct. 24, 1953, in Fort Scott, Mo., to William J. and Lois (Houston) Cooper. He was united in marriage to Glenda J. (Shorty) Fowler on April 25, 1997 in Miami, Okla., and she survives of the home.
Daniel grew up in Richards and graduated from Nevada High School in 1971. He worked for a time at John Deere in Fort Scott, and then retired from Dayco Belt Manufacturing in Fort Scott as manager. Daniel also farmed and ranched throughout his life, raising cattle on the family homestead in Richards until retiring in 2015. His passion in life was playing golf, spending time with family, riding motorcycles. Daniel a Master Mason, past Worshipful Master, and a Junior Steward of Lodge 495 in Richards, Mo.
In addition to his wife, Shorty, he is survived by his children, Michelle Wiedenmann (Jeff), Garden City, Mo., Scott Brillhart, Fort Scott, Richard Cooper (Kelli), Joplin, Mo., Lanette Schaub (Troy), Arcadia, Kan., and Kellie Talley (Ryan), Nevada, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Cooper (Linda), Arcadia, Kan.; a sister, Deanna Marie Morrell, Nevada; nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Shelly Marie Ramsey; a great-niece, Jasmine Pettibon; and a granddaughter, Madison Faith Cooper.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Riverside Cowboy Church at a later date.
