Nevada R-5 district announces supply pick up
The schools in the Nevada R-5 district will be hosting a series of days and times that students may pick up their belongings that have been left at the school during the COVID-19 pandemic. This will include items from lockers, gym lockers, and classrooms. This is also an opportunity for students to drop off school property, including textbooks, calculators, library books, and other school materials. Lunch balances may also be paid at this time.
Nevada High School
Students and/or family members will pull in the circle drive from Ashland Street. Supplies will be distributed from the north doors of the multi-purpose gym. This is also when Jostens will distribute graduation items to seniors.
Freshmen pick up 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, May 7.
Sophomore pick up 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, May 7.
Senior pick up (Jostens pick up) 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, May 8.
Junior pick up 1 to 3 p.m., Friday, May 8.
Nevada Middle School
Students are to pick up their items on the day and time that coincides with who their homeroom teacher is. This is a drive-through event, with cars entering the south entrance of the parking lot on North Olive Street. The schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, May 6:
10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Barrett, Doak, Fischer, and Hemphill.
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Jenkins, Koger, Owen, and Payne.
12:30 to 1:30 p.m.: Pennington, Pettibon, Smith, Thorp, and Weber.
Thursday, May 7:
10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Barnes, Clark, Fast, and Franklin.
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Gray, Hearting, Lentz, and Mosier.
12:30 to 1:30 p.m.: Mutch, ORiley, Penn, Sherman, and Wolfe.
Friday, May 8:
10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Alexandar, Herzberg/Office, Baldwin, and Cottle.
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Drury, Eden, Gilmore, and Greer.
12:30 to 1:30 p.m.: Landoll, Leonard, Scotten, Talley, and West.
Truman Elementary
This is a drive-through event and a staff member will bring the supplies to your car. Pick up will be on the north side of Truman Elementary. Cars to enter through the west entrance and exit through the east side. Students supplies will be placed in individual bags. Yearbooks and fundraiser items will be available for pick up at a later date. The pick up schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, May 5;
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Scotten, third grade; Hamm, third grade; Sanders, fifth grade; McCallister, fifth grade; Hawks, fifth grade; and McHugh, fifth grade.
Wednesday, May 6;
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Lindquist, third grade; Eby, third grade; Morris, fifth grade; Howarth, fifth grade; Smith, fifth grade; and Kapler, fifth grade.
Thursday, May 7;
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Byers, third grade; McGuire, third grade; King, fourth grade; Wooldridge, fourth grade; Turner, fourth grade; and Wilson, fourth grade.
Friday, May 8;
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Pettibon, third grade; Morris, third grade; Holcomb, fourth grade; Arens, fourth grade; Carpenter, fourth grade; and Wilde fourth grade.
It students are unable to pick up on their scheduled day, their belongings will be kept at school. The items can be picked up at a later date when the school reopens.
Benton Elementary
Pick up will be on the west side of Benton Elementary on Elm Street (where bus drop off and pick up are normally), as well as the north side of the school at the front of the building on Vernon Street. There will be tables along the sidewalks marked so you can see where you need to stop and pick up/return items. If it is raining, the tables will be inside and items will be delivered to your car by staff. All pick up times are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pick up will also be available on the north side of the school on Thursday, May 7, in case the scheduled pick up time was missed. Bryan Elementary
This will be a drive-through event. A staff member will bring supplies to your car. Student supplies have been placed in individual bags for easy distribution. Most medical supplies will be placed in student bags to be returned. Nurse Robin will contact individual parents about returning some items in person. Each kindergarten through first grade student will receive a free pair of shoes donated by the Convoy of Hope Rural Compassion shoe program. This was coordinated with volunteers from the Nevada Assembly of God. Money already paid for the Fantastic Caverns field trip and class t-shirts will be returned to first grade student parents during this event. If you paid in cash, it will be in an envelope and placed in your students supply bag. Parents are asked to follow the same traffic pattern for student drop off and pick up during the school year. Kindergarten parents will drive through, from south to north, on Clay Street. They will pick up items at the kindergarten doors. First grade parents will drive through, north to south, on Adams Street. Items will be picked up at the first grade doors. The pick up schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, May 6;
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: First grade Gray, Ast, and Cussimanio; and kindergarten Ferry, Ephland, and Reed.
Thursday, May 7;
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: First grade Bruce, Rich, and Nall; and kindergarten Swearingen, Johnson, and Hardin.
