Kathleen Mildred Covington
Kathleen Mildred Covington, 98, Walker, Mo., passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020, at her home in Walker. Kathleen was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Topeka, Kan., to Gordon Garfield and Ethel Leona (Gayer) Deline. She married Jerial D. Covington on May 6, 1949, in Rogers, Ark., and he preceded her in death in 2010.
Kathleen was raised in Kansas and later in Michigan where she attended school. Following her marriage to Jerial they resided in Nevada for a time before buying a farm in Dederick, Mo. In 1953, they moved to Kansas City and then later to Belton in 1956 while maintaining ties to Vernon County. They came back to Vernon County to reside full time in the early 1980s.
Kathleen was a talented and creative person, known to be an excellent seamstress, and cook, and enjoyed painting. Kathleen loved singing, reading her Bible, playing all kinds of games, she had a competitive nature about her. She was a longtime member of the Belton Assembly of God Church and currently was a member of the Stockton Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Morris, Raymore, Mo., and Brenda Copeland (David), Walker, Mo.; three grandchildren, Stephanie Cantrell (Brennan) of Raymore, Justin Copeland (Mikki) of Pleasant Hill, Mo., and Brittany Campbell (Harrison) of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Ayden Cantrell, Keagan Cantrell, Quintin Campbell, Brodie Campbell, Brecklyn Copeland, and Sawyer Copeland; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Jerial, she was preceded in death by a son, Danny; an infant daughter, Marsha; a sister, Roberta Light; and two brothers, Bernard DeLine and Jack DeLine.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Walker, Mo., with Pastor Dennis Deline officiating.
Memorials are suggested in her memory to Mt. Vernon Cemetery in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, Mo.
