Monday, July 6, 2020

Over the Fourth of July weekend, many community members were puzzled when a post circulating on social media inaccurately stated there had been a COVID-19 related death in Vernon County.

The Vernon County Health Department was quick to respond to this misinformation via their social media page.

According to the department, "There has been a lot of discussion on social media this weekend regarding a COVID-19 related death in our county. After investigating this issue it was found that there was a case that had some details entered inaccurately to the state system. There is no death related to COVID-19 in our county. That is information we would release if it were to happen. We are fortunate that all our cases are recovered, asymptomatic, or have mild illness."

As of 2 p.m., Monday, Vernon County has had 26 confirmed cases of COVID-19, one probable case, and zero deaths. There are currently no hospitalized cases.
