Eugene “Gene” Snyder
Eugene “Gene” Snyder, 93, Bronaugh, Mo., passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Medicalodges of Fort Scott, Kan. Gene was born on Feb. 5, 1928, in Moundville, Mo., to Frank Ansel and Leatha Lea (Emery) Snyder. He married Wilma Marie Fengler on Oct. 20, 1946, in San Jose, Calif., and she preceded him in death on July 15, 2019.
Gene was raised in Moundville and graduated from Bronaugh High School Class of 1945. He owned and operated his own truck all his life and primarily hauled livestock to Kansas City, Mo. He also hauled glass, fruit, pop bottles among other items. Gene loved hunting, fishing, gardening/raising tomatoes, and sitting and talking to neighbors on his front porch swing.
Survivors include his four children, Steve Snyder and his wife, Joy, Warsaw, Mo., Ron Snyder and his wife, Kathy, Fort Scott, Kan., Julie Gorman and her husband, Philip, Fort Scott, and Monte Snyder and his wife, Jennifer, Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; his parents; and seven brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, and one granddaughter, Lori.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, at Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh, Mo., with Ed Post officiating. Friends may call from 8 a.m., Monday, until noon, Wednesday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
Contributions may be made in Gene’s name to Worsley Cemetery in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
